Most tools are priced for a company and written for a department. You are a person with a few clients and a list that keeps growing. sjTasks is free for a team of your size, with nothing switched off, and it stays free for as long as that is what you are.
One project per client
Each client gets a project and a short key, so a task reads acme-12 in an email, on the board and in a report. Two projects can be active at once on Free; finish one and archive it, and the next takes its place. Archived projects never count.
Your clients are guests, and guests are free
Invite a client as a guest on their own project. They read everything in it, write notes, and see nothing of anyone else's. They are never counted toward your plan, however many of them there are.
The dashboard does the worrying
Six counts of your own work — late, due today, this week, later, undated, and what you follow that nobody owns — and one list of what is on your plate today. What changed since you last looked sits above it. You open it in the morning and know.
How a week goes when it is just you
A client emails "can you look at the checkout page". You type it into the project the way you would say it — Fix the checkout page !high friday — and it is a task with a priority and a due date. You log the hour it took on the task itself. When you mark it done, the client sees done, in their own project, without a second email from you.
On Friday the dashboard says what is due next week, with the dates on the card. If a client asks what is happening, the answer is the project page, which they can already see. If you start billing by the hour, the hours you logged are already there; the report that adds them up by person and project, with a file for invoicing, comes with the Studio plan when you want it.
What it costs
Nothing. Free holds 3, 2 active projects, 1 GB of files, and as many guests as you have clients. No card, and it does not expire. Every core feature is on it — projects, tasks and subtasks, files, notes, time logging, the dashboard and its reports, the daily and weekly summaries, exports, templates, and the Slack, email and Gitea connections.
When you outgrow it, the message names the plan with more room and the price is on the pricing page. Until then nothing is charged, and nobody asks.
