Getting started
The dashboard
Your work in five buckets, plus the questions you keep — across every project you can see.
The dashboard is the page you keep open. It answers one question — what is on my plate? — and it answers it across every project you can see, so you never have to visit five projects to find out whether you are behind.
Sign in and you land on it. It is also the Dashboard link in the top bar.
The five buckets
| Bucket | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Overdue | Assigned to you, still open, and the due date has passed |
| Due today | Assigned to you, due today |
| Due this week | Assigned to you, due later this week |
| Watched, nobody owns it | Open work in the projects you follow that has no owner — the things that fall through cracks |
| No due date | Assigned to you, open, undated |
Each bucket shows its count in the corner, and a bucket with nothing in it is not shown — the page is what is on your plate, not five headings and four apologies. When there is nothing at all, one line says so: "Nothing is assigned to you right now."
Rows line up in the same columns down the whole page: status, project, reference and title, how many notes it has, priority, due. Click a task to open it; click the note count to land on its notes.
The fourth bucket is the reason to follow a project you are not working in. Who follows what is Watchers.
Frequently used
Underneath the buckets is a card of the questions worth one click. Every card shows a live count of what it matches right now and takes you to that filtered list.
Out of the box it holds the eight standard questions — Past due, Due this week, Due next week, Finished last week, Unassigned open work, High and urgent, No due date, Some Day backlog. Views you save yourself sit above them, and never replace them.
Manage turns the cards into rows so you can rename, reorder, share, take one off the dashboard, or delete it — without going anywhere else. The whole of it is on Saved views and the standard questions.
"Today" means your today
Dates resolve in your timezone, and the week starts on the day your workspace says it does. Two people in different countries looking at the same task can legitimately see it become overdue at different moments. That is correct — the alternative is telling somebody in Berlin that their Friday task is late on Thursday evening.
The foot of the page names the timezone it is using, so there is never any doubt. If it is the wrong one, tell us and we will change it — see People, roles, and who sees what.
Some Day is hidden, visibly
Work at the Some Day priority does not appear on the dashboard by default. Some Day is where you put the things you might do one day, and letting them crowd out this week's work would defeat the point.
It is hidden by a switch you can see — Some Day hidden — show it, at the top right — not by a rule working behind your back. Click it and Some Day work joins the buckets. The switch is remembered in the address, so a bookmarked dashboard comes back the way you left it.
What the dashboard is not
It is not everything. It is what is assigned to you, plus unowned work in projects you follow. To see the whole workspace — other people's tasks, done work, a particular project — use the Tasks table, which is built for exactly that.
